I’ve stayed quiet for the past two pages because, really, I think Kristin’s work can stand for itself without my commentary. I love doing silent pages personally (I actually, in my early writing career, wrote an entirely silent comic which I’m still reasonably proud of), so whenever we get a good opportunity to do one I take advantage of it. A few pages of necessary transition are good for that.

Now we get into the finale of this chapter/issue, however. The rest of the season takes place at Brighton Music Hall, formerly Harper’s Ferry, which happens to be where my band played its first show back in the day. I felt, given the quasi-personal nature of the story, that setting this particular scene in somewhere familiar was appropriate. However, despite having been in a band, I still can’t write song lyrics to save my life.

Keep your eyes out for some easter eggs and such in this scene. There are a few on this page alone, like that Cibo Matto poster and a cameo by Anthony from Kristin’s “Midnight Oil”, which is her comic project that she has worked on for forever and a day. (In fact, if you want to see what Kristin comics looked like in 2004, she put the entire first issue online.) There will also be a bunch of inside jokes throughout these pages, so I’ll try and explain as many as I remember as we go along.
